The George Washington University School of Business (GWSB) is partnering with Georgian National University SEU in Tbilisi to launch a dual master’s degree in artificial intelligence for business, according to the program’s official page. Applications are open through September 20, with classes starting this fall.
The 30-credit, three-semester program will be taught primarily by GWSB faculty on SEU’s Tbilisi campus, blending in-person instruction with online coursework. Students who complete the degree earn credentials from both universities, and Tbilisi-based students have the option to take their final semester of courses in Washington, D.C., subject to visa approval.
The partnership was formalized at a virtual signing ceremony on June 26, with GWSB Dean Sevin Yeltekin and SEU Rector and founder Gia Kavtelishvili signing on behalf of their institutions.
Filling a skills gap
SEU pitched the program as a way to help Georgia meet its “technical development objectives” by training a pipeline of applied AI experts who can build, deploy and govern AI systems, according to GW’s announcement. Lia Kurtanidze, who heads SEU’s bachelor’s program in data science and AI, said the partnership “responds to the increasing demand for professionals who possess interdisciplinary competencies in both artificial intelligence and business.”
The launch follows other signs that Georgian employers are struggling to find AI-literate workers: a survey earlier this year found an AI skills gap was the top barrier cited by Georgian companies adopting the technology, and readers weighing their own options can see how AI education already works in Georgia.
For GW, the deal extends its business school’s AI curriculum beyond the United States without requiring students to relocate for a full degree. The curriculum combines technical AI foundations with business strategy and AI governance — a pairing the two schools said reflects rising employer demand for graduates who can operate on both sides of the technology-business divide.
