Innovative Eyewear, the Nasdaq-listed maker of Lucyd smart glasses, said on July 10 that it is adding free access to Anthropic’s Claude across its entire smart eyewear lineup, according to a company press release.
What’s changing
Starting the following week, wearers of Lucyd, Lucyd Armor, Reebok, Eddie Bauer and Nautica smart glasses will be able to open the Lucyd app, pick Claude from a list of AI models, and talk to it through the glasses’ audio interface. The feature sits alongside the app’s existing ChatGPT integration, and the company says users will be able to switch between the two models mid-conversation.
The Claude integration carries over features already available to ChatGPT users in the app, including image and document analysis, AI image generation, an incognito mode, conversation history, code syntax highlighting, and source-linked answers delivered as real-time streaming responses.
Hands-free access comes later
For now, using Claude on the glasses still requires the phone to be unlocked with the Lucyd app open. Innovative Eyewear says a further update, expected in the third quarter of 2026, will let wearers query Claude with their phone locked and in their pocket — what the company describes as its first fully hands-free voice interface for a large language model. It also said it has a patent pending covering multi-AI access on smart eyewear.
Why it matters
“This is an important step forward in our mission to make the most flexible and powerful AI glasses on the market,” said Innovative Eyewear CEO Harrison Gross in the announcement.
The move puts a small, publicly traded eyewear maker ahead of several larger consumer-electronics rivals in offering a choice of AI backends on a single wearable, at a time when demand for camera-free, audio-first smart glasses has been climbing. Lucyd Armor, the company’s safety-glasses line, has been its top seller since debuting in October 2024.
