Anthropic on June 23, 2026, launched Claude Tag in beta — a Slack integration that shifts how enterprise teams interact with AI, from private one-on-one chat to a shared team member visible in public channels.
How it works
Teams add Claude to a Slack channel and tag it with task requests using @Claude. The model — running on Claude Opus 4.8 — breaks each request into stages, works through them asynchronously, and posts results in thread replies. Multiple teammates can collaborate through the same Claude instance and hand tasks off to each other, a capability Anthropic calls “multiplayer” collaboration.
Claude Tag retains memory from channel history and connected data sources, so teams avoid having to re-explain context with each new request. When “ambient” mode is enabled, Claude proactively surfaces updates and follow-ups without being explicitly prompted.
Anthropic’s own numbers
According to Anthropic, 65% of its product team’s code is today written by an internal version of Claude Tag — a statistic the company used to validate the product before external release. Administrators can tightly scope Claude’s access to specific tools, data, and channels through granular privacy controls.
Availability
Claude Tag is available in beta to Claude Enterprise and Team customers. Existing users have a 30-day migration window to move their workflows and channels to the new platform. Anthropic offered launch credits to eligible organizations.
